Good location for shuttle

Stayed just one night prior to returning to UK on the shuttle, after touring around France. It was easy to find although we had to plan our day well to enable us to make the two hour window available for checking in. The room was well presented and sheets and towels smelt freshly laundered. If taking a dog be sure to email the hotel directly so that she can reserve a ground floor room also be aware that the charge might be more than stated. Information we had said it was €5 but we were charged €10. Didn't stay for breakfast but it looked fairly standard for France with croissants, preserves, juice and coffee.

Rural retreat only 10 miles from the ferry.

Located about 10 miles from Calais, but a million miles from the standard tourist hotels. This is a really charming, very small hotel, housed in a converted barn. Our room was in the roof space, with lots of exposed beams and old world charm. Mind your head in the shower. Very friendly, helpful people, who made us feel very much at home. Good breakfast. A very pleasant end to our holiday in France. One of the nicest places we stayed.

We only stayed one of the two nights booked due to this being a converted barn rather than a hotel.

Overnight family stay

We were very impressed with the charm and friendliness of the owner. Very welcoming. We were very pleased to find a Brasserie/bar across the road to have dinner without having to use the car. Also within 5 mins in the car there is a petrol station and small Carrefour. The continental breakfast is an extra but very nice. A very pleasant stay in an attractive building and we would be happy to return.

An excellent find

An ideal spot to stay when making a quick visit to France via the Eurotunnel. Very friendly welcome from the owner who kindly cooked us a meal even though we had forgotten to request food when booking. Very relaxed atmosphere. Only 4 rooms but bedrooms a very good size with lots of character. Easy drive from Calais. Will definitely go back again.

A 'chambre d'hote' really. Excellent service, and a very good evening meal (which must be booked in advance), including a small but well formed wine list. The room was clean and simple, the bathroom with a large bath. Kettle and tea and coffee provided. No TV in the room, but a large one in the guest lounge area.

Great place for Calais stop-over

This is a lovely B&B a 10 minute drive from Calais. The owner speaks perfect English, is charming and enormously helpful. We booked a family room which was comfortable and spacious. The buffet breakfast was fresh and plentiful. Will definitely return.

Perfect stop over location

Our stay at Chantebise was wonderful. As soon as we arrived we were warmly welcomed and we felt our holiday had already begun even though we had 8 hours driving the next day to our final destination.

Great for a stopover en route to and from Tunnel

Lovely conversion of old rural building. Room had personal access to car park and was tastefully furnished and clean. Continental style breakfast all very freshly prepared. Good English spoken if needed and very helpful and friendly service. Area convenient though possibly not very interesting or scenic for a long stay.

Home from home

A lovely place. We had a quadruple room with a double bed and bunks. The room also had a small kitchenette with fridge and kettle and a fabulous bathroom with bath and shower. The owner recommended a lovely local restaurant for dinner and reserved a table for us. Breakfast was fresh and there was plenty of choice. The welcome was second to none and I would wholeheartedly recommend Chantebise. Thank you Juliette!

Absoluter Geheimtipp

Lovely Chantabise

I liked the location of the Chantabise in the countryside. It is just over 10 minutes to drive to Wissant by the beach, and easy to find and to get to from the tunnel. We used it as an overnight stay to do some shopping and to go to Wissant. We found the people who run the place very friendly and accommodating. It was peaceful during the week. The room was lovely with character, warm, clean and attractive with plenty of space. There was an ensuite shower/bathroom, and a separate loo. The garden looked lovely for children to play in. Even though I did not have breakfast, it looked good. I would be happy to stay again, and to stay for more than one night. I felt very relaxed there.

A really pleasant place to stay. We only needed a one night stop over, but I think in this case, and unusually so for hotels in this area, one night was not enough. Good food at reasonable prices, clean, charming rooms, and an exceptionally pleasant and helpful owner turned what was only expected to be a boring stop over into a really enjoyable experience.

A great little place......

Cheerful, smiley hostess Juliette made us very welcome, and was most attentive and helpful throughout our stay. Although Juliette speaks excellent English, she endured my attempts to speak French with gracious tolerance! Our room (one of four) was spacious and spotlessly clean, with the en-suite bathroom being equally sparkly. We found ample towels, extra pillows and blankets, an extra heater if needed, a hair dryer, a kettle along with tea and coffee, and fresh milk delivered on request - everything had been thought of and provided. The evening meal was plentiful, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully cooked, but our one small gripe was that at €23 per person for a three course set menu, it was a little on the pricey side. On the big plus side however was that a decent Bordeaux started at under €10, so on balance it was probably a win-win for guests. Breakfast was very good - perhaps yoghourt would be a welcome addition to the plentiful buffet? The two croissants per person were particularly good, and along with a choice of breads, a good selection of jams, honey, Nutella etc plus a cereal and two cheeses, orange juice and tea, coffee or hot chocolate, provided us with a good start to the day. All in all, great value, great service and a great deal to come back for.
