"The building and grounds here are absolutely beautiful. It's clearly been a wonderful place to stay at some point. Having said that, our trip was generally very disappointing. We arrived in the evening, and there were no staff at all to be seen. There was a bar open, with music playing, and no staff. A sign noted to call a mobile number for help. The first number rang out repeatedly. On a second call, a person answered and seemed confused about whether any staff remained at the hotel. Eventually...

"Our fist visit to Montrose. Lovely hotel which met all our needs in terms of friendliness, cleanliness, amenities and location. We had a very plentiful, tasty breakfast. Great atmosphere in the evening when there was a live band and a busy function suite. Have already recommended this hotel and this town to friends."
