"I booked into this hotel last minute as it was the bank holiday and we thought we would have a night away from home. As we have two dogs we obviously had to find somewhere dog friendly. We have taken our dogs away with us on may occasions but never have I found anywhere as accommodating as this wonderful hotel. We stayed in a beautiful room which had a dog bed, dog throws, eating and water bowls. We were not once told our dogs were not welcome anywhere except from the main dining room but instead were directed to a lovely conservatory overlooking the lovely garden with views of the beautiful valley so in fact would have been our choice of where to eat anyway. The hotel is surrounded by lovely grounds to take your dogs out in. From our perspective the hotel is fabulous with wonderful staff and the food in the restaurant was absolutely lovely for both dinner and breakfast. I couldn’t recommend this gem of a hotel enough"

"Generally very good. One night stay for a car show at Carmarthen Showground. Parking - access i stight to some spaces but plenty to chose from. Check-in - good, friendly, polite an dquite quick. Entry to room - this let the stay down, the room had not been cleaned from previous guests, check-in staff very concerned and helpful, asked to wait in the bar whilst room was prepared and free round of drinks due to issue. Room - comfortable but needs a little attention e.g. with toilet lid up you couldn't fully push the flush handle and socket panel above dressing table was very 'flexible', also difficulty finding how to turn off all lights as 2 wall lights are operated by a fused switch on the socket panel above the dressing table. Bar - with 2 functions on there was only 1 barman, he could have used some help to keep the queue down. Food - standard pub type food, we all enjoyed it. Sleep - very compfy bed and pillows and only distant road noise with the window wide open. Apart from the room not being clean any other less positive points above are very minor. We had a very nice stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again."

"We stayed for one night whilst travelling through. The staff we met were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was fresh, tasteful, well equipped and very clean. We had a full cooked breakfast which was perfectly cooked and the service was faultless. We would definitely stay again and have no hesitation in recommending The Spilman Hotel. We marked down comfort slightly from Excellent to Good because we had a very hot night (August) the fan in room was very welcome but not sure if our mattress was memory foam or not but,although comfortable, we did find it hot to sleep on. Just our personal preference. "

"The.only thing I would advise is to make the menu sound more appetising. Beef pie, cabbage and potatoes doesn't grab me. Also, the pie was fine but the plates were overwhelmed with potatoes, peas and cabbage, far too much and a lot must go to waste!"

"A lovely hotel, very well thought out styling with everything you might want in our room. Staff are friendly and welcoming, the food was also very good. Its location on the side of the river is very picturesque, the car park is small but there is public parking nearby. "
