"I had a wonderful stay at Selva Boutique Hotel in Luquillo. The property is an older pink beach house that feels like staying at a big extended family’s oceanfront home—charming, comfortable, and unpretentious. While it’s clear the building could use some updating, everything worked well and the grounds were neatly kept.
Playa Fortuna is right next door. The beach right in front is rocky with no direct access, so you walk a short distance around a few houses to reach the sand. Free beach chairs are provided and the water is calm and quiet. From the hotel it’s about a 10-minute walk up the beach to the famous Luquillo kiosks. Luquillo Beach itself is only four or five minutes away and gets livelier on weekends.
The waterfront views from the patio and covered deck breakfast area are incomparable, with El Yunque rising in the background. Breakfast is basic (dry cereal, cold milk, and graham crackers) but convenient. There aren’t restaurants right at the hotel, but the kiosks are close by.
Walking the local streets gives a real Puerto Rico feel with friendly locals and occasional neighborhood dogs. The culture is warm and the island is truly enchanting—La Isla del Encanto.
The location was perfect for my business meetings and conference in Rio Grande. The price was fair. If you want a relaxed, authentic beach-house stay instead of a polished resort, I highly recommend Selva Boutique Hotel, especially for a larger group of let's say 10 or 12 people. I'd stay there again."
