"Very disappointed, the hotel looked lovely in the photos but reality was a different story. With the exception of one waiter none of the staff seemed to know what they were doing. The pool was filthy and the water was green. The room was shabby and in desperate need of a refurb, broken bathroom fixtures, hole in sheet, dirty curtains, broken tie-backs. Bar area was okay but at breakfast our table was covered in flies. Avoid this place at all costs "

The surroundings are forest and the rooms are very clean and equipped with all the facilities except Television (who needs that when you have so much nature around you). Special mention to the helpful staff who took care of us and provided prompt service. The chef cooked tasty meals for breakfast. Lunch and dinner services were available on request and prior notification. This hotel is heaven for people who want to enjoy nature and have few slow, relaxing days."

"The standout from this place was the pool. Easily the best to date in Lanka. It runs directly East to West so has the sun permanently on it, making it lovely and warm. It also appears in very good nick so I would guess is relatively new. The room was pleasantly adequate with no complaints. "An absolutely wonderful hotel, with a calm, serene atmosphere, that blends in beautifully with it's surroundings. Cinnamon Lodge is the antitheses of a generic, bland, modern hotel, which exudes a sense of unfussy sophistication. The Cinnamon Group's website does not do justice to the architecture or to how lovely the grounds are. The architect took inspiration from the ruins of nearby Ritigala temple (well worth a visit), and it's amazing how comfortably the buildings blend in with the vast grounds. The rooms are huge and nicely furnished, without being "glitzy". We stayed in a suite that was essentially a two story house, and comes with your own butler - in our case Lalith, who made our stay complete - reserving tables, remembering your favourite drink and generally anticipating your every need. The food was consistently excellent over our five night stay. The staff are all warm, charming and do their best to make your stay a memorable one. They are led by an excellent management team, who are visible, approachable and highly competent. Our stand-out memory is of the wildlife - not just at the nearby national parks, but within the hotel grounds. Incredible bird-life, monkeys, monitor lizards, and even an elephant beside the lake. This was all brought to life for us by the hotel's resident naturalist team (in particular Kintu), and we recommend you seek out their expertise. An oasis of calm, in the heart of the cultural triangle."

"We were extremely happy with our 3 nights stay at Gabaa. Staff were superb. All the cabins were hidden amongst the nature, making it must more relaxing and enjoyable. Property was very quiet and had plenty of privacy. Hiruni and Eranda and also everyone else were always available and made our stay memorable. My kids didn’t want to leave the property. Rooms very spacious and AC was worked perfectly. We got some tea and food and they were authentic."

"Sudu Araliya is located on the banks of the Parakrama Samudraya. It’s extensive gardens offer a peaceful place for relaxation. There is a very nice and sturdy tree house with a couple of benches and tables. A lovely place for children to play and adults to relax. Rooms and bathrooms were spacious and clean. Staff was friendly and attentive and our requests were taken care of promptly. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet with many typical Sri Lankan foods. We only spent one night there but planning to return for a 2-3 night stay. Would definitely recommend staying there."

"Incredible helpful and friendly staff and beautiful ground. My cottage with the outdoor shower was charming. Spa facilities were not available during hours that i wanted to use them, ieri early morning and evening before and after excursion, that was sad. No pool towels also a minus. Dinner menu was expensive but nothing was very good. Breakfast however was delicious! Sri lankan menù was bevande expectation. I enjoyed my stay very much."
