Super comfortable bed in a spacious room. Very clean and tidy. Lovely welcome and advice about the state of the footpaths in the area are very muddy, so we wore walking boots for our river walk to William Wallace monument and along the river bank.

We stayed for 2 nights. 3 adults and 2 children. The Coach House was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. There was a lot to do in the area and some lovely walks.

Our cottage and everything about the Borders charmed us. Douglas was very helpful and gave us excellent advice on restaurants and attractions like Melrose Abbey, Abbortford House, and of course, the many walking paths. Unfortunately the hotel was due to close on the morning we left due to coronavirus restrictions. But you would not have known this from the way we were treated. Nothing was too much trouble, so friendly and welcoming. We will def go back one day.
Just go if your going too go but I would not return again I would prefer too be long shanks infantryman and an Irish conscript.

Lovely gift shop a few doors away. A lovely girl with a Canadian accent worked there and was very kind and helpful.
I was only there overnight and for a visit to Melrose Abbey in the morning. Melrose looks like a lovely place to visit. Interesting shops and restaurants. The museum was closed (Sunday).
Lovely place to visit and will certainly be staying at the George and Abbotsford Hotel again. Staff go the extra mile, fantastic service.
