"We prepaid for 2 rooms with river view - 2months before our arrival. Only one room was "available" and it was a handicap room. The valet was also "full" when we checked in. The included breakfast was excellent with lots of hot and cold choices. The pool is indoor and small. The outdoor area by the river is also next to the railroad tracks. The tables and chairs needed cleaning."

"I could have lived with the room's prison style window, the frayed carpeting, the ZERO bathroom counter space, and the passed out junkies across the street in the park. I could've lived with the comical "gym" that is literally the size of a walk-in closet big enough to hold a grand total of two treadmills and a few weights. "I had to book a last minute stay in Sacramento due to a train stoppage, and what a pleasant surprise! Governor’s Inn is lovely. Very pretty lobby with lots of seating and free coffee and snacks. They even have a water dispenser! Large rooms, very comfy beds, nice bathroom set up with large sink space, full closet. "We spent two nights over Father's Day weekend. We were in town to catch an A's game and a concert at Golden 1. This location is unbeatable. Everything within walking distance. We spent some time both days at the bar. Drinks were great. Front desk was very helpful. Would definitely recommend."

"The building is incredible, and a great place to stay in the city - quiet, comfortable, and very close to everything downtown. Staff were warm and friendly, the facilities were very clean, the bed was comfortable. They have a deal worked out with a lovely cafe a couple blocks away so you can get a discount on meals and drinks there. The only walkable groceries are convenience stores/bodegas, but I expected that in a city. Would highly recommend, and I'll be back anytime I need to come through...

"Stayed here during a day trip with my daughter and had a great overall experience. The property was clean, appeared to be fairly new, and was conveniently located near the Capitol building. "Very beautiful place. My complaint would be that there was hair everywhere from the previous person or the staff and we couldn’t use the bathtub shown in the picture because there was a tone of shoe prints as if someone was walking around in it. Other than that staff was kind and the welcoming. "

"I come to Sacramento quite a bit for work and while there are plenty of hotels in the depths of downtown and along the Sacramento waterfront there are not a whole lot of options near the Capital and other state agency building. The Sterling is AWESOME for an affordable boutique stay in a very walkable and lovely part of town where accommodations are limited. I plan on making this my regular spot to stay when I'm in Sacramento."
