"All the staff were warm, pleasant and efficient. We had an issue with a noisy neighbour room and it was dealt with immediately, and with a follow-up. A Nespresso coffee maker was offered and delivered to the room when we saw those pods in the housekeeping trolley. Breakfast was good, usual fare for a 4 star hotel, and many options. "
"Such a disappointing experience at this hotel which does not deserve its 4 star rating or price tag.
They talk a lot about their “lean luxury philosophy” which is marketing talk for cost cutting and stripping back amenities to the detriment of their guests. There is nothing “luxurious” about arriving late at night to be greeted by an I-pad to complete a ridiculously long check in process that takes far more time and effort to complete than a normal check in. There was a member of staff present but they gave me no welcome and told me nothing about the hotel, breakfast, local area etc. I had questions about my booking which I didn't get to ask as the receptionist went to serve drinks instead. Self-check in is not “more streamlined” or more convenient, it’s a pain in the ass and only exists to save the hotel money. It created a terrible first impression of the hotel and immediately sent the message that they don't care about their guests.
The “lean luxury” continues in the rooms where there is no fridge, no proper desk, no phone for contacting reception, thin cheap feeling towels and pillows and no tea, coffee or water. These can be accessed in the galleys-again at more inconvenience to the guest. The decor in the room is cheap and tacky and more like a 2 star hotel than 4.
This is the kind of hotel more concerned with vibes and “feel” than decent customer service or amenities. Maybe drop the useless guitar amp in the rooms and concentrate on basic service & amenities. "
Splendid Hotel Lac d'Annecy - Handwritten Collection
8/10 Good
"The location was perfect for exploring the Old Town. Very walkable and close to lots of lovely shops and restaurants. Spoiled for choice!
Parking was 50% off at the Hotel de Ville parking garage which was helpful. We paid about €6.
The breakfast room was very nicely appointed, and the breakfast had a good selection. We stayed on a Monday and the bar is closed in a Monday so we didn’t experience that.
The rooms are a little tired and I would say small however they way they are put together, including an interior door and the bathroom backing on to the bed wall, means that you don’t hear other guests coming and going, so that was a real plus.
Annecy is a stunning town. We will be back!"
"Lovely Hotel with Friendly and Helpful staff. This hotel is located within walking distance of the main train station and the city itself. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Geneva."
