Nestled beneath the San Juan Mountains, this gateway to outdoor adventure offers hiking trails and rock climbing at Black Canyon. Downtown's historic Main Street buzzes with local shops, while nearby Ridgway State Park invites visitors for boating and fishing.
Montrose is a perfect town situated in a beautiful location. You have to plan a trip when there is an event at the Event Center such as their Buck-IT Bull Riding Challenge or the Colorado Pro Rodeo Finals the end of September.

I've always liked Montrose ever since our first visit back in 2003. It is a town that is big enough to have everything you might need when traveling, but not too big. It is a convenient jump off location for the Black Canyon and much more.

Montrose is much bigger than we originally imagined. It is also developing. It is close to tourist attractions, is easy to access. It is booming.

Do not miss Bluecorn Cafe and Mercantile - especially the coffee. Montrose was a great home base for us. I really liked the town.

My parents and sister live in Montrose and we visit often (we live in Longmont). I like visiting Montrose and it has quite a bit to offer during the summer months. My 10 year old gets super bored during the trips we make in winter time.

If you have family to guide you around, defenitely a lot of sight seeing but would not stay here unless you really know the surrounding area.
