La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Secaucus Meadowlands

8/10 Good

"Good location, close to shops and restaurants and 15 minutes from Times Square (without traffic). Large room with a separate living area, featuring a microwave, fridge, and sofa bed. Pet-friendly. Breakfast is included. There is a pool, but the air conditioning in the area was so cold that it was impossible to get in, even though it was advertised as heated. We had an unpleasant experience at breakfast due to the staff's lack of respect. Breakfast service ended at 10:00 AM; my family and I arrived at 9:40 AM (on a Sunday), and there were no eggs or bread left. When I asked if they would replenish the food, the staff member was blunt and rude, saying no—that they closed at 10:00 and it took 25 minutes to cook eggs—even though many other families were also arriving. While we were eating at our table, at 10:00 AM sharp, she turned off ALL the lights in the dining area, leaving us in the dark. It was incredibly disrespectful to those of us still finishing our meal. Even when asked to turn the lights back on, she was rude and had a bad attitude. If the hotel was full—as they claimed—they should have been better prepared to provide a full breakfast spread until closing time. Furthermore, the staff member needed to show more respect to the guests still in the room; while cleaning up, she kept banging things around to signal that service time was over."

"i was pleasantly surprised by how nice this hotel is especially for the price. Room was larger than others I have stayed in. Great location for my purposes. Surprisingly quiet. The only 2 negatives were the light was out next to my bed and the restaurant for breakfast didn't open until 8:00. Coffee in the lobby would have been nice while I waited."

"Excellent staff and facility. No hair dryer in room and the wall mounted squirt dispensers for soap and shampoo are a bit difficult for our arthritic hands. Breakfast is very good but more protein would be appreciated. I don’t understand 3 pillows instead of 4, and they were a bit flat with not much support. Still, a very nice place convenient to everything we need when visiting our grandson."

"The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly during check-in. They advised me to use a different elevator due to the amount of baggage I had and it worked for the most part ( there was a bit of a wait at times for elevators ). The room was small and sparse, but it did have a closet with a sufficient number of hangers to hang clothes. I wish there was a luggage rack, so my suitcase could be off the ground. The location is very close to the subway ( Line 1) and many eateries are close to the hotel. The bakery place next door to redeem breakfast vouchers was just ok and a bit overpriced."

"The location of the hotel was its most valuable feature. Located right in front of Lincoln Center, near Columbus Circle with high end shopping, within 1 block of Central Park, and very near a central train station - Columbus Circle. In general, this is an older hotel. Our room had a VERY small and dated bathroom. The room had poor air circulation as did many areas of the hotel. The AC blew at 65 but the cool air did not move around the room. The staff was excellent. Our room was cleaned daily; every day we returned from our long, hot, subway adventures to a clean room. The on-site roof top restaurant was nice as well. Despite its dated rooms, I would consider staying here again for the great location."
