"We really enjoyed staying in a real house in a real neighborhood for our trip to Kyoto. There was plenty of room for our small family, and we felt we had a more authentic visit to this beautiful city. A couple things to note for those who read reviews is that the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and narrow, and I worried for my husband navigating them in the dark at night. "Communication about check in time and arrangement was poor. I sent messages in Japanese but they reply occasionally in English, which was strange. I was asked to send all my details including passport number and a photo despite they have all the details with booking , but after all, I had to fill in details again on paper. Very inefficient and time consuming. "

"Loved it, felt like a real local. Washer was a plus and included detergent! Fast responses and overall a great stay :) 9.8/10 a little bit dusty specifically the top of air conditioner but hey, it’s an older place, it was expected and part of the vibe. Recommend if you want to stay in a more traditional place hence the name of the place. "
