Long walk is sun, so consider getting river boat, even though this is a little expensive

The pier is undergoing major refurbishment at present, so many of the buildings are closed, Still great view over Lake Michigan

Apparently its the first place many tourists head to. Others we spoke to were equally disappointed. However, there is a superb architectural boat tour which is based at the shore end of the pier.
