"Very disappointing stay – major issue with trains In hindsight, I wish I had paid more attention to previous reviews before booking. The biggest issue by far is the railway line immediately next to the lodges. Trains pass extremely frequently, including late into the night and again early in the morning. "I was given room 3 which was average and definitely not like the advertised photos or reviews, there was not hot water which happens, I was then given an 'up grade' to an upstairs room where the shower head was broken and the electric shower when set at medium went from cold to burning on its own, clearly faulty. Bed was very comfortable but the room was dated. Unable to offer comment on the breakfast as I had to leave before it started, 8am is quite late for midweek."

"This is not walking distance from the Manchester airport. Just a heads up. Shuttle was not running & I found out that it only runs a few hours very early mornings. So just be prepared to spend 15 to 20 pounds for a taxi ride. With that said, great place. Needed a place to stay for about 10 hours to get a shower and nap before my next leg of an overseas flight. "Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with a full English on offer and also fruits and yoghurt. Fantastic location to get around town and for woodland walks. Parking for residents outside the hotel, £6 for 24 hours."

"We changed rooms as soon as we arrived because ours had food stains on the surfaces. The next room was cleaner but on the hottest May Day on record the air con was not working and neither was the TV. Our second stay here but probably our last. It was very untidy, old and a bit grubby. Despite all that the duty manager did move us and try to get out tv working."
