"Unsure what makes this an eco retreat aside from the fact they ask you to bring your own water bottle to refill with water they provide and there is no hot water for showers. The property has a lot of potential but it felt maybe slightly neglected. There was a lot of debris on the ground, the kitchen area was really dirty and the room had rusty racks and shower curtains that allowed water to spray out all over the floor. "A must stay in Costa Rica! One of the most tranquil, romantic, and beautiful places we’ve ever stayed! The personal and small touches made all the difference! This is a boutique hotel where the staff all truly care for guests and one another. Valery, Fiorella, Issabella, and all the ESH staff were so lovely and welcoming. Danny, Francisco, Froylan, and all the staff at Almar were amazing, and the food and cocktails were terrific! The rooms are all private and have amazing amenities. It is close to Guiones and they offer shuttle service to all the local locations. Further, they provided many food and activity recommendations off site. Overall, it was the highlight of our trip, and will be recommending ESH to anyone who plans to travel to Costa Rica! Pure Vida!"
