Almost everything about this place was great - i even had a decent view of the mountains over the fence through my back sliding door which i liked to keep open for the fresh late summer air when in the room. Pretty, short walking loop trail at the end of the road, by the river. Dozens of large eels ("tuna", in Maori) in the little stream under the riad, next to the motel. They come quickly if you have bits of meat to trow in for them to eat. No catching/fishing, though!
