There is a very nice restaurant in walking distance, Betsey Jane, the best in Fox Glacier, recommended. However it needs attention, the carpet under the dining table is badly torn. Heartland Hotel was a great place to stay. I really liked the sliding entrance door to the room. The room was well laid out and had a fridge, kettle and variety of teas. Buffet breakfast had eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, and the usual continental food. The bed was also very comfortable.

It is a lovely, little walk around this amazing turquoise gorge. There's a fun suspension bridge and plenty of birdlife around making it a rather magical experience.
