A real gem

This is a real gem and at a very reasonable price too. The lodges are comfortable and private with a view over the pond full of bird life. The owners are charming and offer a range of extras such as bicycles and infrared torches to see kiwis on a night tour of the forest. We suggest 2 or 3 nights to enjoy all that is available

Wunderschöne Lodge absolut ruhig gelegen mit super viel Platz. Wir würden wiederkommen und noch länger bleiben, leider konnten wir nur 3 Nächte buchen.

Juste parfait, il ne manquait rien. Le logement (n1) était superbe et très propre. L'accueil était au top. Environnement au calme+, à 3 mn du lac et des ballades pédestres.

Cherie is a wonderful host always available but not intrusive. The room we had was immaculate I’ve travelled a lot around the world and couldn’t fault it. On top of that I was sick when away and Cherie was so accommodating for our family. Can’t rate this property highly enough. Probably only comment would be more signage to find spa pool at night. Thx for a great stay!

Wohnen am Biotop

Ein Weiher, Libellen, Enten, schwarze Schwäne - ein Natur-Idyll, wie man es nicht erwartet. Das Studio für 2 ist über einen Holzsteg erreichbar - ein Sonnendeck, ein Wohnraum mit Glaswand zum Deck, kleine Küche, Dusche/WC - keine Nachbarn,außer den Schwänen - und wenn man etwas Leckeres morgens/abends zum Essen möchte - mit den Hosts reden ist da SEHR erfolgreich. Vielen Dank, wir haben sehr gut und gesund gegessen. Wir sind gar nicht mehr zu den Kai Iwi Lakes oder an den tollen Baylys Beach gelaufen - die Location war phänomenal. Früher sind wir von Auckland bis nach Opononi durchgefahren und haben kurz einen 2-stündigen Kauriwalk eingelegt. Jetzt mit der Wai Hou Oma Lodge haben wir einen tollen Standort gefunden mehr Zeit für die Kauri-Walks zu haben, wir werden dort sicher wieder mehr als eine Nacht verbringen. Wer irgendwas einkaufen will muss bis Dargaville, das sollte man vorher wissen. Vom Wohnen mitten im Teich kann man nur träumen und es ist fühlt sich an wie auf der Privatinsel.

Nice unit with very private view over pond.

Greeted by friendly owner, did an hour on supplied mountain bikes around one of the lakes which was great after a long drive.

A place of quiet, peace and beauty.

I was needing a place to unwind and just 'be'. This was it! Beautiful quiet location. Lovely and clean accommodation. Ruby couldn't have been more helpful and lovely. The mini cinema was fantastic. A couple of mins from the Kai Iwi lakes. I recommend it to anyone needing some time out, to those who appreciate beauty and who like good quality accommodation.

The motel is in a beautiful position and each lodge is set well away from the others. Ours was reached by a board walk and looked out over a small lake with a black swan and other birds. It was wonderfully peaceful.

No Ordinary Accommodation!

We entered the driveway to find artistic landscaping, tiny lakes, and serenity. The cottages were beautifully designed and decorated. It was easy to see that the hosts were an architect and his artist wife! Everywhere we looked, there was something interesting. Two os us actually crossed over water to get to our studio apartment. We hated to leave.

Average, not luxury

Lovely greeting from Ruby on arrival, who showed us to our room then advised she was out for dinner so would not be around. We arrived during a cold snap, and were given room 3, which had underfloor heating. Unfortunately the room stayed cold until the next morning and no other heating was provided. We were unable to get the television/DVD to work, and no instructions were in the room. Very small towels were provided (not particularly absorbent) and given no heated towel rail, meant a wet towel for the morning shower as we didn't realize and had used for the spa previously. No key provided so unable to secure ourselves or the unit. Website appeared to promise a view over the water, so were disappointed that our view was the lawn, it would pay to clarify when booking. Unable to discuss any of this with the host, as they were out... All in all, adequate, but not luxury.
