I’ve been staying at Sandcastle for many years, but this last visit was by far the most disappointing. Our room was in terrible condition! The bathroom had peeling wallpaper, a stained countertop, and a persistent mildew smell. The TV didn’t work, and the remote was so sticky that even after trying to clean it, the glue-like residue wouldn’t come off. The freezer in the mini fridge kept acting up as well. Overall, the room felt neglected and falling apart.
Normally, I would have asked for a different room, but when you’ve already traveled all the way to the Cape and everything else is booked, what’s the point? Even if we had gotten a refund, it would have taken 5–7 business days to see the money, which doesn’t help when you’re already on vacation.
To make matters worse, we accidentally misunderstood the checkout time. Instead of a polite reminder, the manager banged on the door like a SWAT team leader and screamed at my friend. I understand we inconvenienced housekeeping, but it was an honest mistake — the aggressive way we were treated was unnecessary and unprofessional.
I’ve always enjoyed staying here in the past, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I hope management takes these concerns seriously, because as of now, I can’t recommend Sandcastle based on the condition of the room and the way we were treated.
