"Lovely hotel in a historical property. The staff is vey friendly, knowledgeable and kind. They go out of their way to accommodate our needs, including pick up and drop off at the train station and excellent advice during our stay."
"My wife and I stayed at the Water Hotel for a few days in early January. The staff upgraded us to a larger room and was overall very helpful, including arranging a pickup at Taiyuan airport and return transportation to the airport. The morning breakfast is delivered to your room a few minutes after you order it. The Hotel is right in the old town and within steps of anything you want to see their. The itself was spacious, clean and with a comfortable bed."
"Wonderful hotel set in an ancient mansion. Staff were helpful and friendly and focused on improving the guest experience. Wonderful breakfast whether you ordered Western or Chinese. We ate the special set menu dinner. Definitely the best restaurant in Pingyao. Staff had a proficient level of English which enabled us to have a better experience visiting the historical sights in the walled city. Our two night stay was a five star experience."
"The hotel is lovely, in a traditional courtyard-style house. It is beside the north gate, just inside the ancient town, so the location is great. Alice was fantastic, collected us from the train station and gave us lots of tips on places to visit and eat. We had a great two-night stay, highly recommended!"
"The area was generally very dirty. The entrance to the hotel was being used as a shop for Chinese girls to get dressed up and having makeup. Hence it was as you were entering a small fitting room. The staff could hardly understand a word of english, while we had to ask for very standard supplys such as toilet roles to be provided to the room."
"I didn’t stay at the hotel. I called and I got no answer. I arrived at the hôtel at 22h30. I didn’t found the hôtel. No Lightning at all. I had to find an another hotel. "Very unique experience, located in the heart of the ancient city.
Breakfast was not huge but very tasty and accommodated a few things for us.
The staff was super friendly and some of them spoke good English.
They even gave us a little present before leaving."
