"The property needs some looking after. Generally, it looks as it if needs maintenance and staff. The entrance to the stair way had bird poop all over the railings. And it stay there the entire trip ( 5 days). There was no elevator and I stayed on the top floor. My room was nice due to the space however, the other rooms I booked (3 additional) were okay but the beds were extremely small. There was no toilet tissue nor any complimentary towels like that. There was a tv that didn't work , Wi-Fi...

"Breakfast each morning was good. The staff were great, very friendly. Well maintained and clean property. The room was also clean. The kids loved it. Walking distance to restaurants and easy to get around."

The security guards allowed my driver to enter the gated property once only during my 3 day stay. We made complaints and nothing was done about it. Instead of lifting the gate to allow my taxi driver in, we had to get out each time and walk around in order to enter the hotel. "Starlight Chalet is a very nice, well maintained classic building with beautiful landscaping. The view is wonderful, especially from upstairs and from the gazebo. The food was very good (but perhaps a bit expensive). The beds were comfortable and the room/bathroom was clean and well-maintained. There is no AC, but the temperature at 3500' was much cooler than in the adjacent lowlands so AC was not essential. We went on several birding excursions and found lots of good birds. If you go,...

"The home was authentic Jamaican, gated and secure. I arrived late in the day with an emerging dental emergency. The next morning this required immediate attention. The Hostess Tamara walked with me to a nearby Dental Centre to be successfully treated. As I returned and departed for the International Airport, the host Shane taxied me to the airport for a flat $25 rate as advertised, (airport taxis were asking for $35-$45 for the same transport.) The hosts were welcoming, attentive and gracious....

"The owners were so kind and helpful. This is THE hidden treasure of Kingston. Bob Marley beach is walking distance and the rooftop patio was breathtaking. The AC in the rooms was perfect to cool off after a hot day. This hotel also has a bar and the pool is cute and deep enough for the kids to jump in. The rooms are very traditional Jamaican style/decor and VERY clean. The wifi was strong and overall this was a fabulous likkle spot. Mi soon come back"
