"We booked a deluxe double room for one night in Seward, and it was very spacious and clean. I was really impressed by the size of the room. We had 4 large suitcases, and we were able to set them all out on the floor and it was not cramped at all. The bathrooms and kitchen area are new and modern, which made the stay very comfortable. The area and room was quiet at night, and we were able to get a good restful night's sleep. The temperature was comfortable in the room with an electric fireplace for added ambiance. It was nice to have a fridge to keep our drinks cold and a microwave for warming up breakfast sandwiches that we got from the Safeway in town. Check-in was simple. No need to stop at the desk as we were sent a code for the room for access. The room rate was reasonable, and I would definitely stay here again."
"Let's start with:
Expedia got my last name wrong. I am a Jr. Expedia pushed my last name and Jr together and everything also was messed up because my last name did not match my ID.
The check in Lady could not understand what happened. When she did understand she asked why I did that. After we got past all that. She told me we had checked in to a dog friendly room which we understood, it was the only room left which is a lie. The room did not have AC which does not say that on the room description but does say it on the other room descriptions, which is bad for us for not checking.
The check in lady had a very nasty attitude about it all. The Inn which I would not even rate it as an inn more like a trashy motel, that is so overpriced it is not funny.
We checked into out room later that day and the room was very hot, muggy and smelled like dog piss. I went down to the front desk and asked for a fan, which the other lady said there was one in the room. We found it and turned it on and went to dinner, got back and the room still muggy and smelled. When to the front desk again and they gave me another fan which had a broken plug, got another one and it fell apart as I was bringing it back to the room. I put it back together and then the plug did not work and was falling out of the wall. Asked front desk and they said the outlet work when the light switch is turned on. We had to open the back window and the front to get a breeze and smell to go be gone. Outlet not fix."
"Trail Lake Lodge was a convenient and strategically located stop on our Alaska road trip. We were able to drive from Anchorage to Seward, visit Exit Glacier, and then continue to the lodge, making it an excellent base for exploring the area.
The lodge has a classic Alaska character and is in a beautiful setting. Our room was clean and the rate was lower than many lodging options in the region.
The check-in experience felt impersonal. While the staff member was professional and corrected a billing issue promptly, the interaction lacked the warmth and hospitality we experienced at other Alaska lodges.
The room was modest. The bathroom was very small and showed its age. The lakeside deck overlooking the water didn’t have outdoor seating available to relax and enjoy the views.
We also encountered some confusion during our departure. The lodge was locked when we tried to check out around 7:30 a.m. Eventually, a staff member let us in and explained their key drop box system.
Overall, Trail Lake Lodge provided a clean and reasonably priced place to stay in a great location. The setting is attractive and the lodge has a classic Alaska feel, but the dated room, tiny bathroom, lack of accessible lakeside seating, and somewhat indifferent service kept the experience from feeling particularly welcoming. It met our needs for a one-night stay, but it was not a memorable lodging experience. We visited early in the season, so perhaps they were still gearing up for the summer."
"The cabin was very clean. The check-in smooth and friendly. Plenty of parking. The cabin was well equipped. The heater worked great.
The only thing that wasn’t appealing was the outside view of this one particular cabin. The others were probably fine. I’d still stay in this same one though especially for mainly a good nights sleep."
