Great value for money and excellent service from host Iris. Lodge is a little dated but it’s huge with plenty of activities from a pool, snooker/pool table, gym, gaming devices, tennis courts and extensive grounds. Location is handy to main highways, some of the key attractions and only 20 mins into central Rotorua. Would definitely stay here again.
We had excellent service & the couple who manage the Lodge are lovely & looked after us beautifully. Our room was spacious & private, & the location quiet & peaceful.
This Lodge is 13km outside of Rotorua in a peaceful quiet location with beautiful views of the lake and surrounding ranges.
It has a comfortable homely feel to it in a luxury setting.
Our host Rebecca was very welcoming and showed us our room and brought us tea. She also send me a text so we could contact her, very polite!
This place is worth a stay!
The property was a old style farmhouse - such a grand place to stay. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly.

Beautiful little get away spot , nice and tucked away from all the noise of the outside world ,
I loved the fact that as soon as you walked through the door you felt as if you had walked into a different era. Rebecca our host was exceptional. Thank you for our special breakfast, just a shame we could not finish it all as it was very filling. We would normally stop off for lunch on our way home but did not need to as we were still full from the lovely breakfast. Will definitely stay here again
I loved the age and heritage of the property and the size of the rooms. Lodges are always more appealing than a faceless hotel or motel room. And Rebecca is a wonderful host.
We planned a quiet weekend away and we booked into this fabulous lodge. Set off from the road, we were surrounded by beautiful grounds and farm land. The staff were so friendly and helpful. There were several table and chair settings dotted around the grounds which made for a wonderful place to sit outside. We didn’t use the pool, but it’s setting was private and looked really relaxing. There was a small bamboo forest as you left which was really neat to see.
Only drawback was the air conditioning which was controlled with fans and open windows. But that worked and we were comfortable.
Really enjoyed out stay, and would go again.
What a beautiful entrance! Small lodge with big rooms. No AC but there are fans in the rooms. Lovely place to stay, just a short drive to many attractions and the city center.

Disliked: Staff & service
We canceled our booking 6 days prior to arrival and did not realise we had gone over the 7 day period when no cancellation fee applied. (6 days before) an honest mistake on our part.
Expedia were happy to approve reversal of cancellation fee ($1032) but the charge had been put through to our credit card by Hamurana Lodge who refused to refund. They were happy to rent us another rom at another cost as they had already let the original room. They weren’t loosing out!!
We were most unhappy and would not recommend.
The property is very old and not updated. The room had a very musty odor. There is also no AC, but there was two small fans in the room.
In order to sleep, we had to open all the windows, and then the room filled up with bugs. It was really hard to sleep with bugs buzzing everywhere and dive bombing for a meal.
We couldn’t wait to get out of there in the AM.
The lodge was very basic without a lot of amenities or fuss which would have been fine if I was expecting it. It was more a bed and breakfast but without the charm than a boutique hotel. A boutique hotel offers luxury and quality details- an experience and this wasn’t that. There was only one staff person who was very nice but I basically never saw him and mostly felt alone in the giant lodge save for being able to hear my neighbor snoring through the wall. The room was spartan and the bed was extremely old and uncomfortable. The lodge itself is not close to anything so it would have been nice to have more comfort and amenities to want to stay and enjoy it. I just feel like the way it self describes is inaccurate and set up expectations that were vastly disappointed.
