Great place for a romantic getaway

We were going to stay at a hotel chain but selected to stay at Eva's Escape in the Blue Bonnet room instead. This was absolutely perfect for a romantic getaway. We loved our stay and the attention to detail in every room. The breakfast was always different and outstanding. Thank you Deborah and Rosemary for this great experience. There were restaurants close by and the walk into the city center was easy and around a 15 minute walk. However there are also buses to catch close by.

Beautifu, comfortablel historic home

We stayed in the Mahogany Room, which although it was one of the smallest rooms had an outdoors balcony overlooking the street and on to the Madhatters Teahouse. I was attending a conference and my husband did a lot of sightseeing so we were not in our room much at all. There was a lovely guest's sitting room on our first floor complete with a computer and printer for guests to access. A fridge was stocked with water and lemonade for guests and a nearby microwave allowed guests to pop corn (also provided) Downstairs there was a large sitting and dining room with an inviting entrance hall. A tasty gourmet breakfast was served each day in the dining room at 8:30am. Deborah, our host was a fine cook and we were treated to a variety of pancakes, sausages and mixed fresh fruit for starters. One of my favourite breakfasts was the double baked potato. The table was formally set each morning with good china, cutlery, napkins set in serviette holders and lovely flowers making the centrepieces. It was a great opportunity to meet the fellow guests. Each afternoon, guests were treated to more home baking and there was always a bowl of savoury nibbles. The lemon slice was my favourite. There was red wine and white wine for guests to drink. Deborah was an extremely helpful host, who made up an earlier breakfast for me on two occasions so that I could get to the conference on time. The Convention Centre is only a 15 minute walk away. My luggage was left in Dallas, and Deborah was kind enoug

Good location. Quiet setting. Fantastic staff.

It was our first B&B and we will do it again. We really enjoyed the group breakfast. We met some really nice people and shared some good stories. We parked the car when we arrived and walked for the rest of our stay.

Memorable stay

My stay at Eva's Escape was unexpectedly fantastic and truly memorable. I am glad that I chose this special place rather than uncharacteristic, tasteless hotels in San Antonio.

A unique bed and bath in the heart of SA.

My stay at the Eva's Escape was very comfortable, accommodating, and convenient. I enjoyed the preservation of this historic site with adding just enough current amenities to make it a unique bed and bath

Enchanting, Victorian home.

This is a fine B&B, well-run and nicely situated in one of San Antonio's historic neighborhoods. The owner and staff are first-rate and attentive to the details that make a stay worthwhile.

Historic building is a work in progress, but still nice, and well located in the King William District. Good local restaurants, a very cool glass blowing studio, and the Riverwalk all within walking distance.

King William District grace at it's best

Lovely location with easy bus access, restaurants and safe walking to the River Walk. Hostess is gracious and a pleasure to converse with on many levels. Well informed about the area and city attractions.

Lovely welcome and great location

We loved this guesthouse, the owner/staff are amazing. Door is a little bit fiddly to get in because the numbers are a bit faded but I worked it out in the end. The bedrooms are all decorated differently and are really nice. We stayed in Magnolia and this was lovely be warned the bed is very high and you need the steps to get in but it is so comfortable. We could go out through the window to a verandah that overlooked the front of the property. There is a common area for everyone with a fridge stocked with soda and water plus a bottle of wine so you can have a glass while you relax. The also have cookies and popcorn. Breakfast is good and freshly cooked and if you have any allergies they will try to accommodate you. It is a short distance to the river walk and the Alamo. It is located in a nice residential area just off the main road. So there are bars and restaurants close by.

Amazing hotel and great staff

This place was amazing - Debroah was very attentive and looked after everything we needed. Breakfast each day was sensational. The rooms were lovely. We stayed in the Magnolia room which was a bit of a squeeze for 2 people but overall very nice. Location was about a 15 minute walk to everything so very good

Very nice B&B, two blocks from Riverwalk

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here. It was a very memorable and pleasant experience. Deborah and her staff are outstanding. The food was delicious and very well presented. Everything was so convenient from the location that we never moved our car from the parking spot. I definitely recommend it.

It was OK, but I wouldn't go back

It was in a good location to walk around and the breakfasts were really great. The breakfast is served between 8:30 and 9:30. If you have to leave earlier, you just miss breakfast. The bathroom and parking were the deal breakers for us. We stayed in the Lily room. The room was small and the bathroom coined the phrase water closet The shower was 2'x2' with the shower curtain sticking to you. If you are a large person, you would not even be able to fit in the shower. The end of the commode was about 14 from the entrance of the shower. The sink and counter was in the room, the sink was very cheap and broken and the do it yourself counter was not well done. The parking was another annoyance. Parking on the street was not a very safe option, and juggling 4 cars in the regular sized straight driveway was a constant problem.

Parents looking to get away need to read this before staying here!

My husband and I stayed here a few days for a little adult get away. We have 2 kids and rarely get us time. Let me start by saying the breakfast was great and the location was convenient. We stayed in the Lilly room and it was nice. The bathroom was a different story. I am 5'4 and medium build. The shower was so small, I could hardly wash my legs! You constantly fight the shower curtain just to rinse your soap off and to shave, you have to stick your leg outside the shower just to have enough room to reach them!!! Also,,,keep in mind, this house is 100 years old. Charming yes. Private no.Every step ANYONE upstairs or down takes is heard in your room. You can close your door, but that does help the sound privacy. I could hear the telephone conversation of the gentlemen in the room just above ours. He was telling his sweetie what he had for dinner. The bed is as squeaky as the floors.Squeak, when you get in. Squeek, when you roll over. Squeek when you get under the covers. Squeek,,,, well I hope you get the picture. This, along with the lack of any type of sound barrier ,there is of course, No adult recreation(if you get what I'm saying). In my case, I wish we stayed in a place with less Charm, but a useable shower and some modern day sound proofing.

They have thought of everything......

Eva's Escape is simply stunning, the rooms are beautiful and well appointed, the breakfast is delicious and they have thought of everything to make your stay perfect, from wine and an afternoon snack to help with where to eat and what to do.

Disappointing

Booked the Lavender Room through Expedia. Upon arrival we were told that our room had been changed and that the Lavender Room was not actually available at the time we booked it. We were put in a suite in the attic of the old beautiful building and the A/C was inadequate to cool the attic. After unsuccessful attempts to fix it, a room was found for us at another B&B and we changed locations at 10pm. Basically as we see it, if the room we requested wasn't available we should have been contacted to find out if we wanted a different room or to cancel. The A/C should have been on hours before our arrival. They do many things at Eva's to make the stay nice but for us it wasn't a good experience. It is a majestic beautiful venue though. Note: true that it is a few blocks from the river but a long walk to the commercial part of the Riverwalk.
