"This hotel is the best! The view on Lake Atitlan is beautiful! The hotel is well located, easy to access, comfortable, clean, excellent wifi, very helpful staff. We loved our stay at Villa Santa Catarina. "
"It’s a scam, don’t fall for it, the listing states that you book the entire cabin but in reality it’s just one room! It’s a share cabin with a share bathroom! They don’t tell you until it’s too late to cancel with no penalty’s. Basically they will corner you into sharing the cabin or loose your money. The owner is a scam artist, the property is based in Guatemala but she contacted me using a Thailand phone number, good luck getting in touch with her (if it’s even a she) don’t get fooled by this....
"Would not recommend to stay here.
The staff is not trained in hospitality and the hotel itself is WAY OVERPRICED!! Even at half cost I would not stay here again.
No phone reception in the area and NO wifi in the rooms. Stayed on a business trip and one of three rooms had heavy mold stains and the room itself was not properly cleaned.
It is also located right next to a noise highway, so you hear cars and noisy public transport at all times.
Found out when paying that if you book on other sites...
"This place is a museum. In normal situation, it is run as autograph or luxury selection. You use antique bed and in rooms with colonian furnitures. One block away from the famous church and Mayan market. The staff ain a seperate office and very professional to give you timetable and help you with guide to any place.A chef team serve you for breakfest. You pay local price for luxury selection place. "
"Beautiful hotel with amazing gardens! Delicious food at the restaurant! Great service. The front desk arranged for a ride for us to Panajachel after we missed the ferry. Such an amazing, relaxing place! "
"Pros: Decent location and facilities. Very nice breakfast.
Cons: very noisy with several dogs barking all night. Hard to sleep. Not sure the owner cared after I provided similar feedback to him.
Would not go back."
"Es un cuarto en la casa de una familia local. Si quieres tener una estadía como si vivieras en Panajachel, es un lugar perfecto. El dueño y su familia son muy amables, hay animales, y el cuarto está limpio y cómodo. Si quieres un lugar turístico, con silencio, la última tecnología, o comodidades --busca otro lugar. "
"We (my wife our niece and her husband) pulled into the parking lot at the front of the hotel and checked in, apart from an initial confusion over the price between C dollars and Quetzals (my fault) all was good. We ordered food through the presented menu and dined in our room. Good service all round."
"I had a terrific stay at the Amankaya Lake House lake house. From the moment I arrived, Fernando (the owner) went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt welcomed and taken care of. He was incredibly accommodating and friendly, always ready to help with anything his guests needed.
What really stood out was how much he genuinely cared—whether it was assisting people with getting around Lake Atitlán or just taking the time to sit down and play a game of Yahtzee with us, Fernando made the...
