Hotel Riu Guanacaste - All Inclusive
8/10 Good
"The property and rooms were beautiful! Concern- Toliet water smelled like sewerage Only one restaurant was a sit down which a reservation has to be made the day of arrival. Only got in once during the week. ALL others are buffets. Some of those are closed several nights during the week. The food was not the the best. Recommend going in December for greener mountains we went in June."

Villas Sol Beach Resort
2/10 Terrible
"Our stay at Villas Sol was one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had, and I feel obligated to warn other travelers. At check-in we were told that the pool with the swim-up bar, jacuzzi and Spa were closed. These closures were not communicated before arrival. We booked a Premium Ocean Villa and our first room had an obstructed ocean view and rock-hard beds. Management did change our room to the correct room, after we complained. The beach was littered with trash and rocks, the remaining pool was overcrowded, and there were constant vendors on the beach pushing tours. Most critically — we got food poisoning. We ordered nachos that took over an hour, arrived cold, and we noticed the restaurant roof actively leaking into the kitchen. That night my daughter and I were violently ill. My husband didn't eat the nachos and was fine. We never ate there again and had no further illness. Do not eat at the hotel restaurant. We also called for security one night after individuals threw rocks at our villa door. No one ever came. The property has a gate but does not appear to have trained security staff. On our last day we checked our bill early — and discovered the hotel was attempting to charge us $300 for allegedly soiling a mattress. It was completely false. We photographed every mattress and had management inspect them personally. They found nothing and dropped the charge. I believe this is a deliberate scam targeting tourists before they leave the country."

Condovac la Costa
4/10 Poor
"Pools were great, but that was pretty much it. This is an older, has been resort. It has great potential, but they seem to skimp on everything. There were two of us in a family suite. Not a couple, just 2 female friends. They only would give us 2 towels and 1 hand towel, and no wash cloths, even when requested more. We were told that’s all they give for 2 people. There were lots of bugs in the room. Little flying ants mostly, but we still don’t want them in the bed. The bar was limited on drinks they could provide (no mojitos, sangria, even simple popular drinks). Food options were minimal. Not buffet style. And 2 options, typically chicken with rice or pasta and pork chops. It all tasted the same, clearly leftovers from day to day. Fruit was also limited. Dessert looked like Little Debbie’s desserts. The beach was fine but beach lounges are falling apart both at beach and the pool. Not a place I would return or recommend."
