"The room was beautiful with a patio that overlooked the lush hillside. The dining area was pleasant and the food was good. The onsen, however, could stand some refurbishment. The hotel advertises late checkout but I was told that 11:00 am constitutes late checkout. This seems like a bit of a scam to me. Made my departure more rushed than a I planned for it to be."

"I’ve stayed at many ryokan in different parts of Japan; Yukairou Kikuya is by far the best. Not only does it have flawless service, beautiful rooms and superb food, but it has famously beneficial onsen water in baths that range from in-room to private to a larger “public” one that I nevertheless had all to my self. The baths are often outdoors in private gardens, which enhances the experience. I also had a shiatsu massage that ranks among the best of my life. I can’t recommend Kikuya highly...

was huge with great personal service. But their restaurant is very small & we couldn’t get a seating for dinner. So we went down the street to a 3 table hole in the wall noodle shop - genuine Japan. The next day after visiting the Mt Fuji World Heritage Center we found a small cafe near the train station for coffee & icecream. "

"分館よりも、駅からは離れているが徒歩圏であり、便利な立地だと感じた。 極力直接的な接触を排したチェックイン、特にチェックアウトは味気ない感じもするが、サービス的には全く問題ないと思うレベル。 アメニティはエレベータに乗る前に、必要なものを自分で取っていく方式で、無駄を出さない点で評価できる。そして、女性用のアメニティがかなり充実しているように感じられた。 ウェルカムドリンクバーは18時以降に提供されるが、驚いたことにアルコールのドリンクバーがあり、種類も充実しているように感じられた。アルコールのドリンクバーは、あまり見たことのないサービスである。 一方、無料の朝食はメニューはそれなりに充実していて、富士宮焼きそば、丹那牛乳の飲むヨーグルトとなど、地元らしさを感じられる品ぞろえもしている。 「天然温泉」と名乗るだけあって、大浴場があるのは嬉しいが、男女の時間入れ替え制である点は注意が必要。時間はチェックインの際に印刷物で配布されるほか、エレベータ内にも掲示されている。 大浴場がある分、部屋の浴槽が小さいほか、全体的に狭さを感じるが、必要最低限の設備があるため不便さを感じることはなかった。"
