"We stayed in the Old Barn section of the property and I think the name speaks for itself (although it shouldn't at a resort setting). The building has character, but also a very bad old smell. There are small things that can be changed to still keep the character but get rid of the old musk smell. The room was not very clean unfortunately. It looks like there was black mold in the AC system. Bathroom was also just quickly wiped by the looks of it. Really easy to replace the shower curtain for something slightly more heavy so it doesn't fly onto you when you're showering. The actual property was very nice because it was large so lots of room to walk and it's on the water. A few changes would make this place great but unfortunately the current state of the cleaning/ the old barn in general is what I would not recommend."
"The receptionist at check-in was terrible. I said hi three times and she never responded. She didn’t smile or seem friendly at all. While my friend was filling out the check-in paperwork, I said that I wanted to check in as well, and she replied, “I’m doing one right now,” in a very rude tone. Those were the first words she said to me.
I do have to say that the property manager was very nice. He made the fire for us, was helpful, and treated us kindly throughout our stay.
However, my first impression because of the receptionist was terrible. I honestly don’t remember ever being treated with such disrespect and lack of kindness while receiving service during a vacation.
Also, the reservation was not clear that I would receive a bedroom instead of a dome. My expectation was that I had reserved a dome, since that is what was shown on Hotels.com, but when I arrived on site, I was given a bedroom instead.
Plus, the hot tub that was advertised was not like the pictures at all. It was not placed with a view as expected, and it was just a small inflatable tub that could barely fit one person at a time."
"The property was beautiful with pretty gardens. The room was a good size, and I had a great view of the grounds and the lake. The staff in the restaurant were attentive and service was prompt. Would stay here again for sure!"
"It was so so beautiful - not much around you which is amazing, but also prepare to have food etc with you. Vince was amazing, the view was gorgeous, I would recommend to anyone looking for a unique stay:)"
"Everything was great! I was doing the Cabot Trail in early season and were happy they were open, friendly and right by the Tim Hortons! I had a nice stay and the shower head was great. WiFi worked too."
