Farmstay in Stafford District

"We were checked in by a really lovely helpful young girl on reception. She was amazing! Room was ok, large but dated but bed comfy. Pillows hard (but luckily bought ours with us). Went for dinner that evening. Do not recommend. Menu stated roasted carrots and green beans with the pie - came with obviously frozen peas and carrots and a few leeks. Service was terrible - 3 members of staff clustered around entrance, poor service - had to keep get ring up to get own drinks from bar outside restaurant. Dinner staff very unwelcoming- felt like we were a hindrance. Was an ok stay but would not return."

"In the room the carpet was filthy. The mattresses were too soft. The internet was poor. The downstairs area looked very uninviting, like it had been left to rot. It was dark and depressing. There was no nice common area to sit and relax in. The carpet on the way to the rooms looked like it hadn't been changed since the 1950s and was threadbare and dirty. The area near the landing toilets was old and smelled of sewage The whole place needs an absolutely thorough makeover."

"Good review won’t be helpful so I will only include negative feedback here, and my review is 3 stars. 1. The breakfast was shocking. I had my breakfast on 4th May which was a bank holiday and I believe bank holiday this hotel should have more customers than usually so the kitchen should prepare more food than usual as well. The breakfast starts on 7am and finish at 10:30 am on bank holiday. I arrived downstairs at 9:40am and there was a queue and the hot breakfast only has egg left, no tomato no mushrooms no sausage no hash brown no bacon… everyone was waiting for the food and stuck in front of kitchen. The toster was burnt and smelled really bad… breakfast I will say it’s very poor due to service and food. It is not as good as Premier In or Traveloge. This is a IHG hotel… 2. The room I had there is no cooling AC, only heating. There was an air conditioner but when I chose to adjust it to cooling mode, it showed me the penal locked and I cannot change it so the room was boiling hot. 3. The toilet 🚽, there was one yellow drop on the surface. I’m not sure if this was the cleaning liquid or someone’s wee. I cleaned it with sanitizer and use hot water to wash it. 4. Right, I will say something positive below: - the location is very good, close to city centre, right behind the police station and in front of cathedral. Walking distance is really nice to everywhere. - the bathroom, except the toilet everything else was spotless and marvelous."

"Proper value for money, ideal place for me to get my head down after watching the Villa before heading back down to London the following morning. I was up & away early the following morning so unfortunately I was too early to tuck into the hot breakfast which did smell great however the kind lady said that I was free to grab a coffee & any of the cold options before I departed. Will be returning to this hotel in the near future 👍"
