"It is a beautiful villa that will be worthy of many of your photos. But travelers should be aware that the open living space can become uncomfortably cold at Batu's high elevations. In addition, the large number of mosques nearby can shatter any ideas of a peaceful retreat, especially on Friday's when the speakers will be going all day. One minor note is that it needs a little maintenance to fix wifi (too slow, making streaming difficult), and exposed wiring in kitchen, stuck doors, etc.)...

"Love this beautiful villa. Love the pretty yard, the pool, the second floor terrace with the two huge cozy chairs, the four pretty bedrooms, and beautiful kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay here. "We booked a room for 4 people on Expedia which had good reviews and a high rating, but when we arrived it was a 12 bedded dorm which we would not have booked. We emailed the property for clarification but we did not get a response.We feel we were not given what we asked for. On the website it stated that there was a 4 bedded room available but not a 3 bedded room or 2 bedded room. So we felt there were only 4 beds in a room. Could you explain how this has happened? It was noisy and very dirty and a terrible experience. We would like a full refund from you and ask you to review the rating you currently have on the hostel."

"We very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Tugu Malang. The building is unique and gorgeous, and filled with very interesting decorations and artifacts. They offer a free guided tour of the hotel to explain some of the history about these decorations and artifacts. The staff is very attentive, the rooms are nice and have character, the hotel is environmentally conscious, and the food is excellent. The hotel is in the center of Malang and within walking distance of things to see such as Kajoetangan Heritage Village."

"The Grand Mercure was a wonderful hub to stay in Malang. It is not too far for Excursions to Mt. Bromo to pick you up and after an experience like that, you’ll want to stay somewhere that will pamper you back to balance. The cafe downstairs makes great options and while not very expansive, the room service dining had enough options for a variety of Indonesian and Western food to keep things fresh for a few days. The breakfast buffet had an extensive amount of options and you’re guaranteed to find something you like. Highly recommended. While we didn’t use the pool, it is family friendly with a fun for everyone slide and the building wrapping around it for coziness. "
