A very uniquely designed hotel boasting traditional artwork and architecture. Was a pleasure to stay, very well located near the train station and walking areas. The restaurant was great, high quality food at reasonable prices. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would happily return.

Hotel Tugu in Malang is not a hotel for me, it’s a cultural experience, everytime I’m in Indonesia I only fly to Malang to have the opportunity of staying in this lovely and cozy property which I call my second home, (restaurant it’s an incredibly sensory overload journey) reception staff always give me the best tips to enjoy attractions around as I love hiking and volcanos

We very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Tugu Malang. The building is unique and gorgeous, and filled with very interesting decorations and artifacts. They offer a free guided tour of the hotel to explain some of the history about these decorations and artifacts. The staff is very attentive, the rooms are nice and have character, the hotel is environmentally conscious, and the food is excellent. The hotel is in the center of Malang and within walking distance of things to see such as Kajoetangan Heritage Village.

This is an outstanding Hotel! By far the best and nicest hotel we have stayed at in Indonesia. It is filled with fascinating antiques. The staff bends over backwards and the food in the restaurant was excellent with a huge selection. One person in our party had to go to the hospital and the hotel could not have been more helpful accommodating. They let us feed the fish and the rooms even have a beautiful bathtub.

Amazing property in the centre of old Malang city. Walking distance from the blue, rainbow and heritage kampungs. Staff was very friendly and made sure all our needs were met. The hotel has 2 in-house restaurants and we also made use of the spa (which was amazing). Definitely pinned this hotel for possible future visits. Great atmosphere as you feel you are on an island of peace in a bustling Indonesian city.

This property has so much personality and Pak Bagus and his team that run it do such a great job even if the rooms are a bit dark and slightly tired and in need of a refresh. A jewel of East Java. Staying at Tugu is an experience in its own right … with an internationally important art collection on display, a feature pool, afternoon tea, a fine cocktail bar and dining options on site. Truly the most attentive staff and helpful staff. My one suggestion is to better inform guests of breakfast options available to them … although priced differently (but still reasonably) the a la carte is a substantially different offering for European guests compared with the buffet. An all round exceptional and memorable experience.

As advertised, this hotel doubles as an art museum. The decorations are jaw-dropping. Our room was comfortable, with good A/C and shower. The staff was friendly and attentive. The front desk staff answered our questions and helped us arrange a Mount Bromo tour, and even greeted us by name whenever we passed. The pool area was nice and, though small, was not used much so we had no trouble finding space. We enjoyed the two restaurants and the cafe, eating most of our meals there, and they even prepared early-morning breakfast boxes for us to take on our Mount Bromo tour. We enjoyed the daily tea, which was served in another very pleasant space. The hotel seems to be centrally located, within walking distance of parks, banks, and shops. It helps that Malang itself is very pleasant, cooler and greener than other cities we visited in Indonesia.
