Sumter has some very nice areas and then there are ones that feel unsafe, especially at night.

Sumter is a pretty, smaller town that is convenient to Shaw AFB. It was an easy drive into Columbia. We also visited Charleston and Isle of Palms, they were a bit farther away but close highway access made the trip convenient.

We love Sumter! We were staying at Tru for our home closing, we love it so much. Such nice people, great weather, very reasonable cost of living, and close to many wonderful South Carolina scenic locations

Smaller town. Some good and some rough areas, but all-in-all it was good. Love the history of the area!
