"I checked in for a few hours before my flight and booked a regular room, but was downgraded to an accessible room instead. The shower barely worked, the water stayed cold for 5–10 minutes before becoming warm, and the shower head released so little water that I had to stand extremely close just to shower properly. For a Marriott property, this was highly disappointing. When I complained at check-out, I was told that I needed to turn on the shower a certain way next time. Instead of making a guest deal with that, why not provide a room with a properly functioning shower in the first place? I later requested a refund, but the property denied it because I had already used the room for a short stay. That completely misses the point of my complaint. I live only 30 minutes away and booked the room purely for convenience before a red-eye flight for my girlfriend’s birthday. Because of the condition of the shower, I ended up driving 30 minutes back home so she could shower comfortably, then drove back again afterward. At that point, I would have been better off staying home instead of paying for a downgraded room with a half-functioning shower. Overall, it felt like a waste of money, especially for a Marriott property."

"5-stars for very friendly check-in, nice smile, warm demeanor, explained a bit of the properties history, and I liked the plants and flowers around the property. Unfortunately, looks like the owners tried to ruin the rooms by modernizing with cheap crappy particle wood furniture and ugly yellow paint; the room I had was like gross motel-6; it had cheap particle wood furniture with some edges coming off, the room was mostly clean but, but the wall heater was dirty both inside and outside (yes, you can clean outside too!) , the doors were dirty around the door knobs and below, the baseboards not clean, the various nice plants around the property needed pruning to neaten-up especially the rose bushes and I saw some plants in these cheap plastic planters, bad look. There was some crap outside in the back part, like a tall orange cone, a ladder, and a plant bed that looked like it was falling apart. So, I say all of this because the Wittle has great wonderful interesting history dating back to the 1900's, and It just does not look like the rooms or property have been kept up to retain the period-correct style, and why not? The owners could get more business and rave reviews if they changed out the furniture for vintage, also painted one wall a nice rich ruby, and the remaining an off-white, and hung vintage pictures as well. The bed was also uncomfortable, very cheap, cutting corners. Probably wont stay again unfortunately. Thank you"
