If you're looking for something cheap above everything else, then this isn't a bad pick. It's got a lot of faults, however. It's a long way from the centre of the city and it's a 25 to 30 minute WALK from the nearest metro station. Having said that, it's near the airport.

Rebooked us to another hotel without notice
We booked two nights at this hotel. We contacted them a couple of days before arrival to arrange a taxi from the airport and to confirm our reservation, and it turns out they had changed our reservation to another hotel. A quick online search confirmed we DID NOT want to stay at this other hotel, so we called back and they said we couldn't stay with them because they were fully booked. In the end we just showed up at the Grand Orzu and they gave us a room for the night - so apparently they did have space. The whole thing was dodgy.
The first room we stayed in was a triple. The room was ok - bathroom was functional, if not fantastic or overly modern, and the two twin beds were fine. The third 'bed' was a very uncomfortable pull-out sofa. Additionally the AC was broken (it was 40 degrees that day.. AC would have been nice.) The second night we were moved to two double rooms. These were fine, although our bathroom door didn't close.
The hotel itself seems reasonably safe. The wifi is good in some places, but useless in others - it depends which part of the building you are in. The staff was nice, although not overly sympathetic to broken AC and other issues. The breakfast was fine - a typical buffet of bread, cheese, veggies and melons.
Overall I would say it wasn't the worst place I've ever stayed, but for the money you can get MUCH better in Tashkent. Try somewhere else. If you do book here, call to confirm you haven't been rebooked elsewhere.

nice hotel but a bit run-down
Hotel is adequate but needs a lick of paint!. Staff helpful though and they have a free baggage storage which I found useful. Pool very small but restaurant around it is nice, especially in the evening. Breakfast very good for Uzbekistan!

Convenient for airport
Close to airport and many flights leave in early hours which was my reason for booking. Very helpful staff, room small but clean, very hot despite air-conditioning (no remote so had to clamber on desk to reach controls). Nice little pool and ok for short stay.
Friendly staffs helps us lot of yhings including travel information.
The quality of service is good, worth for the price.
If I stay Tashkent again, I will choose it.
The hotel room was OK, but the internet service blocked Google Maps and a number of other common websites that I needed. The hotel website advertized laundry at US$3 per kilo on its website, and I asked for laundry at that price. After the laundry was done, I was presented with a bill at piece rates and for a considerably higher amount proportionately. The hotel refused to honor the advertized rate. Pretty disgusting.
Breakfasts were OK and a bar/pool area was relaxing.
There is no Metro station nearby, which was not an advantage!
