"This was the nicest hotel we stayed in on our trip to Norway. It was the only hotel we stayed in that had both tissues and a bathmat in the room. Breakfast was excellent; it included a wide variety of hot and cold foods, including pastries, bread and butter, yogurt, oatmeal, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, and even a wide variety of gluten free breads and goodies designated toaster.
We had a light meal at the bar too and it was also excellent and not overpriced (for Norway, which is expensive).
Location was ideal - right on the water and in the historic downtown.
Staff were patient and friendly.
The only complaint was the parking. We paid for parking in the hotel garage but the garage has limited spaces and they oversold and reserved it for a group of guests the next day. Even though we paid, we could not park in the garage, and had to pay more for parking a few blocks away. The first night we could park in the garage but the only way to get into it was through a very narrow passage that required 7 turns to align my small SUV in the right place and turning the mirrors in and being guided by a friendly hotel guest. Literally less than 2 inches on each side. Then another 10 turns to align to get in the space and shimmying out of the car as the spots are micro sized.
The hotel did say they refunded my parking fee for the second night. Very frustrating that other guests got reserved parking and I was just told “sorry; park elsewhere” after I paid."
"beautiful area. perfect location on the fjord. clean place. very charming. Each room is different which adds to the charm. the only complaint I had was room 6 (small single room) bed has a very large dip and needs to be replaced. It's too uncomfortable to use. Would go there again."
"We had a brilliant room overlooking the waterfront with a full glazed screen; I would say 50% of the rooms offering a view of the waterfront have such glazing and the rest will offer a view through a smaller standard window.
The communal lounge with its enormous modern feature fire place offered heat from a continual log burning fire was a nice addition and there were a variety of good seating areas elsewhere."
"We found a stunning refuge in the hotel Union Oye. The place is so beautiful and you feel like you have stepped back in time. The staff are very kind and helpful. The floating sauna was a highlight.
I would love to go back there again!"
"Our stay at Moens was delightful. The property was clean and fresh, the proprietor was warm and helpful, and even arranged for our E-car to be charged overnight."
"I had a great stay at Hotel 1904. The hotel was very clean, and the breakfast was excellent with a great selection to start the day. The only downside was that the rooms were a little warm since there isn’t air conditioning, which made sleeping a bit less comfortable. Other than that, everything was great, and I’d happily stay here again."
