State Plaza Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Nice clean hotel close to DC. Our bedroom and bathroom were both really spacious. Very comfortable bed and clean rooms. Our room did not have a refrigerate, but the staff brought up as much ice as we needed. They do have ice buckets and other rooms had refrigerators. There is parking on-site, but it is very limited. However, there is off-site parking just a couple of blocks away that is actually much cheaper and easy to use. It is a covered parking garage. You can drop your luggage and then go park your car. It was super easy to use. Restaurant is on-site, but we choose to go to a restaurant a couple of blocks away. The doorman was very knowledgable of the area and made recommendations. They have a charming pub a few blocks away (5 min walk) called Tonic at Quigley. Traveling to downtown DC is easy. We used Lift, but I believe the Metro is close. Overall great choice."

"Great cleaning staff! Loved the location. And the restaurant was wonderful as well. Be aware of the parking fee per night, $45 and $8 processing fee. We only parked two nights but was charged for four nights. Called to correct the charges and was told that a manager would be calling back. No call, so I called again. Finally spoke with a manager and have received our credit back. Great hotel overall, but just don't use the "Self parking.""

"Check-in/Check-out: Fast and easy. No hassle at all. Staff: Super friendly and helpful. Housekeeping checked with us daily to see if we needed the room cleaned, which we appreciated. The security guards open the entrance doors for you during the day, and at night you use your room key to access the hotel — made us feel very safe. Location: Perfect. Safe area and easy walking distance to all the tourist attractions and Chinatown. Huge bonus: Wise Guys Pizza is right on the corner to the left of the building and open until 4am for late-night cravings. Highlight: A big thank you for the free breakfast voucher on our first day in recognition of my husband’s service as a Marine Corps veteran. That meant a lot to us. One note: The only downside was the urban fee at $35/night plus a sustainability fee of $5.58/night. Also no free breakfast after day one 😅. Overall: We loved our 5-night stay. Great service, great location, and thoughtful staff. We will definitely be back."
