"This hotel was excellent! The front desk helped us book a last minute hiking trip. Including information of how to do on our own if we decided to go the route alone. Upstairs has a cute rooftop bar overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the mountains! It had great selection of breakfast options. Centered around the downtown historic district of Funchal, made sightseeing, shopping and plenty of restaurants to choose for dinner fantastic. Perk to our trip was the Festival of Flowers with cultural activities and events during our visit."

"We had a great experience at the Savoy, its beautiful and staff was very friendly and helpful. Most importantly, its location is perfect, easy to explore surrounding attractions. Breakfast was excellent, with great variety. Staff were super good. Will definitely recommend it highly."

"I can’t rave enough about this hotel!! Parking included, fantastic and knowledgeable staff, unbelievable brunch/breakfast and the room was just outstanding. Reception was so patient with all my questions. Female staff really spent time with me and gave me the best advice. I really wish I remembered her name but she is exceptionally good at her role. I do wish there was a bottle opener in the room instead of having to get it from the front desk but that’s a small suggestion. "

"This little 2* or 'Hostel' is in a very convenient location. Easy access to harbour, old town, main hub, buses, pick up points and shops. The room was basic but pretty clean and the bed comfortable. The loo seat was not 'fixed' and despite asking wasn't done for a week. The sheets have seen better days - they were clean but worn and in some places torn. There was a shower which was 60cm square at best but the water was hot with a good pressure. It can be noisy but I think most places are no different in that area. Breakfast was also basic. Bread rolls, bread you could toast, jam butter and sliced cheese and ham (from packets). Occasionally a seeded roll was put out they didn't last long! There was minimal cereal, disappointing selection of fruit and the coffee was either from a machine, or powdered and in an urn. The roof top where you could sit/drink was a pleasant area and looks like the picture. The receptionists were very polite and helpful with regard to taxi's, where to eat and shop etc. It would have had a better review if we had had a kettle in the room and better still a mini fridge. Madeira is not cheap to eat out if you have to every day and it would have been good just to have a fridge for a little cheese/milk etc. The rooms were cleaned and beds made daily"
