"Good things: Front desk staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast "snack" was low key, but excellent. The bathroom floors were heated. The location was perfect. Things not great: The room had been cleaned but things were missed including some trash and a grimy electric kettle. A window shade was nonfunctional and unable to be operated without assistance. The heating system was locked out of control at the room level and needed another visit to get it working. There were some signs of wear including flaking paint on the towel holder in the bathroom and a large area of floor discoloration around the toilet. The big bad things- the room was advertised as cozy, which I thought meant small- but it meant that it was a substandard room- there was literally no view out of either window- except of a trash-filled alley and ventilation hoods on an adjoining rooftop despite Expedia photos to the contrary, and the room was adjacent to the hotel laundry which was loud. When I asked about the shortcomings, the manager was unapologetic and said I should have asked for a new room. Maybe true, but after a long day of travel and failures happening over the course of several hours, I just wanted to sleep. And, being generally conflict avoidant- I kept making the decision to live with each. Later that day she did email to ask if I wanted to move to a different room. Too little, too late and not one note of apology or understanding which likely would have softened my significant disappointment."
