It was a spacious apartment withing easy walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. A quiet street, and a very comfortable bed. We will definitely book it again.

Apartment up the alley

Found this place after all the usual hotels were either full or very expensive. Located up an alley near Cuba mall. The outside does not present very well, as well as being an earthquake prone building. The door is straight off the street,so not a great start. Once inside the apartment is spacious and comfortable. It's quiet as well. Would be a good place to stay for a longer period in the city.

U suites is in a great location - close to the CBD, Te Papa and the waterfront. Really walkable, but because it’s down off the main street it’s quiet too. Really well equipped - dining table, fridge, washing machine AND dryer, hair dryer, extra blankets and pillows. The only down side is that there is no windows to the outside so no fresh air and on a hot day not being able to open a window felt like a down side, but it’s really the only one I’ve found. For this reason I would recommend for families with more people than two, but perfect for solo travellers or couples.

The property was spacious, warm and had everything I needed. I was grateful that the manager who communicated w me about how to get in, etc, came around v promptly when I struggled to get the key to open the door. It would have been helpful to let me know before I arrived which key to use, as I arrived late after a very delayed flight and felt v anxious when I couldn't get in. It is only by chance that I received instructions at because they came in the day of travel and were sent to my husband, Jim, who booked on my behalf. Because the bathroom is small, some more flat top, eg a dresser in the bedroom with a mirror over it, would mean that my husband and I could both function efficiently together in the space should we come again and be sharing it (rather than just me on my own). The convenience of the location, price, cleanliness, utilities all excellent. A nice hot shower and a comfortable bed. More bedding in the cupboard would be nice, as I was a bit cold first night before space had chance to warm up. Likewise a couple of rugs on the floor, esp one in the bedroom, would help the space to feel warmer.

The room was okay, it was stuffy (the windows can’t really be opened - they are old and sticky and there is lot of street noise), a bit dingy (little stains and rips in the bedspread, smelled of old cigarettes) and the walls are thin (heard lots of coming and going and activity in other rooms). There is no interaction with staff and the rooms aren’t serviced. I wouldn’t recommend unless there is truly nothing else available. Better than a shared dorm.

Entgegen der Bilder war das einzige Fenster nicht zur Strasse hin, sondern in einen engen Innenhof. Das Studio war im Erdgeschoss, es drang also praktisch kein Tageslicht durchs Fenster. Klaustrophobisch
