"Staff were very courteous and accommodating. We were given our room on arrival before the alloted time which was superb as we had been traveling over 24 hours. Room was cleaned daily and smelled wonderfully of citrus. Breakfast was awesome, so much choice . Fresh fruit was plentiful. We were sad to leave here and would return. Hire car is probably a good idea. "

"Das Personal ist aufmerksam, zuvorkommend und vorallem sympathisch. Ich habe mich beim Frühstück gerne mit das Personal unterhalten, mir wurden immer tolle Vorschläge gemacht für schöne Orte die ich auf die Insel noch besuchen kann. Mein Zimmer war sehr sauber, man hat kein bisschen staub gesehen. Beim Frühstück ist für jedem was dabei. Ich kann Olive Boutique nur weiterempfehlen :)"

"Es un sitio con una ubicación excelente, fácil acceso y parking en las instalaciones. El check in es facilisimo y tienes un código para entrar. El desayuno siempre es el mismo cada día, es sencillo pero rico. Las habitaciones están muy bien, son amplias pero el colchón es terrible, eso hace que el descanso sea deficiente. Deberían cambiar los colchones porque están llenos de muelles que no dejan dormir bien. Excepto el tema de descansar mal por los colchones el lugar es que nos gustó."

"Absolutely one of the best accommodations we’ve ever had! The hosts are incredibly welcoming and friendly! "Quinta Atlantis is a beautiful space that makes you feel right at home. The craftsmanship of the wood is amazing and the fireplace is awesome. A great place for solo or couple travelers in the hills of Povoacao. You’ll spend time with the dog Laika and the cat Pluto who are very friendly, but will give you space as well. Breakfast is the best you’ll get on the island. Fruit, eggs, fresh Jam, yogurt, vegetables and hummus. I will surely stay there next time I’m on Sao Miguel."

Located on the northeast coast of São Miguel, Farol do Arnel was the first lighthouse to be built in the Azores, and began operation on 26 November 1876. It’s still a working lighthouse today, 141 years later, and is open for guided tours every Wednesday afternoon. As luck would have it, we were there on a Wednesday afternoon, but we only discovered this fact when the lighthouse keeper saw us poking around and invited us inside. A word of warning though: if you plan to visit Farol do Arnel, park your car at the top and walk down – unless you’re a very competent driver or have an addiction to adrenaline and danger.
