"I really enjoyed my one night stay at Y Pengwern. The bar was friendly when we checked in, and when I was shown my room was amazed at how big it was. I was backpacking and there was plenty of room to reorganise my kit, and the bed was large and very comfortable. After a long day's walk we were looking forward to food, and were very happy with the big hearty meals we had in the restaurant. "Staff was attentive and pleasant. Problems were that they ran out of basic breakfast menu items. Additionally, the property is not air conditioned and no fans were available until we requested one. The windows were restricted from being opened beyond two inches. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. On one evening, the hotel was completely out of ice."

"Lovely staff and excellent location. Rooms look as though they have been recently refurbished. Cold breakfast selection not as good as it used to be but good variety of cooked breakfasts on offer. I found the restaurant very cold in the evening but fine in the morning. Plenty of supplies in the room, tea, coffee, water, biscuits and toiletries etc."
