"We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 12. We visited in March and it was very quiet/serene. Portovella has a beautiful view of the Douro. Riverside walk is just several steps down a hill. Photos don’t do it justice because it is so breathtaking in person. The comfort suite was the perfect size with 2 bathroom ensuites and a powder room. View from the suite was incredible. Just plan ahead if you’re staying on a Sunday as many restaurants were closed but we found a gem in Cinfaes - Sabores e...

"We enjoyed staying in a historic place with a very beautiful view of the Douro River. Please note that the only way to get there is by car and the most convenient option is to take advantage of the dinner offered. "Friendly check-in staff - very helpful and courteous. unfortunately amenities let this down. Stayed for 2 nights (3 people) but we were only provided with 2 Dolce Gusto coffee pods for the entire duration and upon asking, were told that we would not be getting anymore. 2 sachets of sugar, no milk, tea etc.
