This hotel has great check-in and check-out service, the front desk people are great and the staff are pleasant and they provide good cleaning services. However, the entire hotel is shabby and dated. For instance, the lamps and light fixtures are in good working order but they are old, scratched, etc. Everything in the room is in the same shabby conditions and you won’t find more than one bath towel, hand towel or facecloth even though it was 2 person occupancy, no tissues too and in general absolutely no amenities. Now, it took me a few minutes to realize but this hotel is a “welfare hotel”, a place that is paid for by the state for homeless individuals and families and though that’s a great program for people in need, I believe that such a fact should be disclosed. It’s also important for me to note that the night was extremely quiet and the other guests, although it was clear that some were homeless, were quiet and mindful of the other guests.
We chose this hotel because we couldn’t find a vacancy in Saratoga that was either available or less than $1000 a night and understandably so because it was the weekend of the Belmont race (which is why we were there) and we did not want to pay those prices.
The room was perfect for what we needed and that being a place to sleep and bathe and while closing on a positive note, the beds were wonderful and so very comfortable and we were pleased to get a good night’s sleep!
