Hi Alfonso. I am sorry that you had trouble with the local access road from the highway. The roads are improving, but slowly. There is, of course, a silver lining to the problem, the 800m of bad road does discourage the daytrippers, motorcyclists, and karaoke parties that tend to be found on the beach at the end of the good roads. Dear Anon, Thank you for liking so many things about us and for taking the time to tell others. I would, however, like to respond to two points you make. You say in a somewhat negative way that we are two hours from Panglao, i.e. the noisy end of Bohol and the site of the international airport. To be honest, I would like to be three hours from Panglao. A little distance keeps away the trinket sellers and the single-use-plastics day trippers, but it does not dissuade the scuba divers, nature lovers, and just plain lovers, who adore the romantic setting, the friendly people and natural beauty of Anda. So, no apologies on that score. I am sorry you found the food a bit bland. As a chef, you would know that people’s taste is subjective, and often influenced by health and cultural concerns. Easier to deal with if the restaurant has a single theme and people know what to expect. However, our restaurant caters for local people from all walks of life and varied culinary experience, and both budget and high-end travellers from around the world. So, we must have a menu that appeals to many different taste preferences. For health reasons we do not use common flavourings such as MSG, and rarely add salt to the food. However, salt, and fish sauce with home grown chillies, and imported Kampot pepper from Cambodia is available for guests to use with all dishes according to their personal inclinations. If you flick through other reviews, it seems that this personalisation of taste seems to work, although we do get criticised sometimes , in about the save proportions, by those who say the food is too bland and those who say it is too spicy. We do have a range of dishes that cater for tastes right across the spectrum. Perhaps the staff need to be more diligent in describing them and offering some of the more interesting local and Asian dishes. We will work on that. In the meantime, I would be happy to hear your suggestions about any dishes you found wanting. Even better, let’s discuss it over a bottle of wine on your next visit. Hi Jane. Thanks for liking the location, the beach, the pool, the breakfast and the wifi. I am sorry you seem to have had a problem with the shower. I checked on the shower in your room and the current guests don’t seem to have a problem with it, it is a pity you didn’t tell us at the time; we would have had maintenance have a look. As for no TV in the room, you are absolutely the first Swedish guest who has missed TV. We do make it clear on all the web-sites that we have no TV - and this seems to attract people, at least the people who don’t want to be kept awake by the TV going all night in the room next door, which is a common problem in the Philippines where TV doubles as a baby-sitter. As to your observation that your room could do with some improvements, we totally agree. Your room was one of the original ones - the older (and less expensive) Classic Seaview Suites. They are scheduled for a complete overhaul, as soon as we complete construction of the almost finished International Restaurant.
