Mercure Ponta Delgada Azores

10/10 Excellent

"This is an excellent hotel. We loved it. The facade looks old fashioned but it is modern inside. The room is large and super clean and most have balconies. It has a large pool and a huge pool area with loungers and tables. Breakfast is included and excellent. The staff is the best. Super nice and helpful. Maria called several restaurants for reservations and came out to the pool to inform us. Perfect central location."

"Excellent. highly recommend. Very helpful staff. The hotel is in the center of the city, so very conveniently located. The Hotel has a rooftop pool, so super fun for everyone. The breakfast is very generous, with eggs, bacon, sausage, breads, yogurt, and so on. There is a restaurant also right in the hotel, so convenient if you'd like to have an easy meal. The hotel offers a free bottle of wine. We opted for something other than the bottle of wine (we messaged the front desk ahead of time, and asked if we could possibly have a dessert instead). The hotel gave us vouchers for two free desserts (we were two guests staying at the hotel). Super nice of them and the desserts were amazing. We both had chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream...highly recommend. The staff, super nice. They let us in our room early, 12:30PM, which was amazing. Our view out our window was a beautiful garden. And lastly, the staff called a cab for us to the airport. The hotel is approximately 2.5 miles from the airport, so very convenient. (Cost us $10 eur to the airport from the hotel) I would highly recommend, very nice place to stay."

Grand Hotel Açores Atlântico

"Overall, it’s a decent hotel to stay at, with modest rooms. However, the prices are a bit high for what you get. For instance, there’s no convenient place to grab a coffee or water, except for the one daily free water bottle in your room or your K-cup (yuck). We were also informed (and it’s clearly stated on the website) that parking is available on-site. However, we were only able to park on the last night, the valet option was full despite not that many people on-site. As a result, we had to drive around late at night to find parking. The breakfast menu options were limited and repetitive. The spa was decent with a great twosome of a staff, but it’s only designed to fit 1-2 guest at a time and they don’t provide after service robes (odd). Th pool was small and always crowded (more than 6 was a crowd). The main restaurant was also limited I options but the Vapor bar was nice and had a decent menu. I highly recommend the BTL, which is essentially a BLT. In conclusion, I would rate this hotel a 4-star instead of a 5-star."
