"Overall, the stay was disappointing. On the positive side, the onsen was lovely and the attendant on the ladies side was very helpful. That said, nothing is available until 3 and you have to rush to make an on-site reservation for the open air area after 3 (there was not an option to reserve prior to 3). The front desk staff provided inconsistent information on check in and was initially unhelpful in storing luggage that did not fit in the automated storage machine. Bottom line, do not arrive...

We took advantage of a lot of what the hotel had to offer (for example, massages, facials, hotel restaurant, and even the nearby outlets). They do come at an extra reasonable price! "We had an amazing stay at this onsen hotel. The traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast were delicious and made the experience feel very authentic and immersive. The rooms were beautiful, and having a private onsen in the room was a huge plus. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive throughout our stay. "This was such a lovely spot to stay. A very authentic and peaceful Ryokan experience in a beautiful setting. The room was much larger than I expected with a relaxing forest outlook. "Overall it was a 10/10, only thing I wish would have been different is the rooms that aren’t the villas had baths instead of stand up showers only. That would have made it perfect, while not being an onset giving the onsen vibes. Overall highly recommended if you plan on staying hakone for an extended period of time and you’re on a budget."

"Quiet, clean, comfortable place to stay. Free parking, private onsen available if you have tattoos, free alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks available in the lounge (selection of spirits). 7 Eleven at the bottom of the driveway. We had a spacious room. I was a little worried as this place only had 1 review when I booked it, but it was just perfect. Would definitely recommend."

"friendly people, private onsen, huge windows with sea view. If youre coming from the train station by foot google map doesnt show correctly stairs location you gotta turn in the small street where the white signal tower, then left at the map sign and another left in the smallest driveway"

"Sadly this hotel really isn’t suitable for Europeans or Americans. We were served with little warmth or hospitality upon arrival and not custom to our taste of breakfast or lifestyle. Everything shuts in the town centre at 5pm and dinner and bar ends 8pm here so it was a very lonely experience. "Beautiful, the in room onsen was amazing and the room was awesome. Great staff. Great location. Wish I could stay for longer- perfect to break up the hustle and bustle of the big cities. Make sure you arrive early- all of the attractions close around 5 pm, which I didn’t realize, but the staff stored my luggage while I went to explore on check out day. The only thing that wasn’t amazing was dinner, but I didn’t go for one of the higher priced wagyu steaks. Otherwise , a perfect stay."
