"Cons 1. Hairdryer was jammed when we checked in & the head had to be replaced as it was inoperable due to hair jammed into the head of the hairdryer. 2. The website says air-conditioned rooms but staff informed they are air cooled.The first night was very sweaty & uncomfortable to get sleep. Staff asked us to open the window for ventilation.This wasn't an option as this overlooks a highway & lot of traffic noise. 3. "I almost don't want anyone to know about the casa, but this is truly the best place to stay in porto. Not 5 minutes from the main historical square. But off the beaten path you walk down a deserted cobbled street; an unassuming door and in you walk to a luscious piazza garden with fountain; beautiful flowers and smells with a plush walk out to see the river and a good deal of porto. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast was amazing and so well appreciated. Staff go above and beyond. ...

"From the moment we arrived, we felt like valued guests. The staff took time to answer all our questions, explain the history of the property, and help with any thing we might have needed help with. This place is luxurious! From the marble shower, dreamy comfy beds, and spiralling staircases, we felt so spoiled. "This is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. The location is a reasonable distance from the busy city of Porto over the river, while still being very accessible on the Gaia side, near the port wine cellars. We booked a studio room overlooking the Douro River with a stunning balcony view of the Luís I Bridge that we had to see to believe. "Beautiful hotel and fantastic service. The food was great too. Just beware aware that most cars can’t drive to the front of the hotel as the road is very narrow and you have to drag (or carry) your bags 100 metres over an old cobblestone road. It adds to the experience but if you have heavy bags, it can be challenging."
