A must
Lovely hotel. Room v clean and warm. Staff took the time to talk to me and make me feel welcome. I was travelling alone. Food v good too. Only one negative was the mattresses in room one. Definitely need replacing far too soft and bent in in the middle. This is easily rectifiable. Could be my personal taste though. Room was very nice. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice, original hotel
Nice hotel, listed building so original. Our room was spacious, clean and pleasant. The pub meals (part of the hotel), are nicely cooked. We enjoyed our stay here. The staff were all really friendly and helpful.

Great Stay
Lovely location, slightly off-grid, but beats a Travelodge hands down and well worth the 10 minutes or so to get there. The staff were all really friendly and just couldn't do enough for us. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Our dog was welcomed with open arms. Bar food was good homecooked and wholesome and at a reasonable price, as was our liquid refreshments. Breakfast was superb... I relly can't be happier.

Fantastic staff, lovely hotel, great location
This is a very pleasant countryside pub/hotel, a genuine local pub which has also mastered being an excellent small hotel - a rare combination. Very comfy rooms and beds, great food, fascinating location in Leadhills, also very close to Wanlockhead. The thing that makes it, though, are the staff and owners, all of whom were just lovely and incredibly sweet and kind to my Dad's dog. Very much hope I get the chance to go back.

Pleasant village hotel
Pleasant unpretentious hotel with friendly staff and chatty host. Clean and comfortable double room and large bathroom. Not quite a power shower, but did the job! Enjoyed evening food served in lounge bar and relaxed after on ample settee before a warming fire. Noisey group in bar next door, but worth a visit to see the display of old photos and materials from days gone by. Good choice for breakfast served in dining room.

Overnight stay
We had a lovely overnight stay at the Hopetoun Arms. Check-in was welcoming & efficient. Nice, spacious room. Evening meal in the restaurant was really nice & good value. Great breakfast before our onward journey. All staff were really friendly- an excellent visit.,

Lovely hotel hidden in the hills. Highest located village in the Scotland. Since it is in a small village do not expect 5 stars latest technology. However hotel rooms are clean, spacious, it has good internet and WiFi. We had dinner and also breakfast here that been very tasty. Staff very friendly and happy to give advise on local attractions. We used this hotel as access point to Dalveen Pass for sunset and sunrise photography which is in close driving proximity.

Set in lovely village ,hotel is very real surprise. Very clean and comfortable, staff are all very attentive and friendly. Food is pub style but beautifully cooked.If you get a chance to sample the Cumberland sausage with mash and onion gravy don't miss it ...best gravy ever .Breakfast is pretty good too.

The highest hotel in Scotland
I booked this hotel for a business meeting I had the next day and stayed for 1 night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and the room was clean and comfortable. I'll definitely stay here next time I'm working in the area. Highly recommended.

Very nice
Stayed for one night hotel is literally the focal point of the village. Food was ok a good choice spoke to the locals in the bar very freindly room was in the attic tea&coffee available in the room great shower. This hotel is remote and apart from the shop next door we didn't see much else in village

Great place to stay while walking
Had a problem with room 10, as new shower not working. Landlord switched us to room 11, but not as nice. However he did offer us a free round of drinks.

A memorable hotel.
A quirky and memorable hotel, ideal for walking the Southern Uplands Way. Great food after long days walking over hills and moors. Must come back and explore the area more especially the lead mining industry.
