"Lift broken but helpful staff to help with stairs"

"No air-conditioning. (Just in case you need it.) A fan was supplied in the room and like the room could do with a good clean. Dresser glass top you could see the dust laying on top. Chair provided also had food remains, hair and dust from previous guests. Bed matress should have been retired many ,many guests ago. Springs digging in and undulating as lay. Bathroom was comparatively clean but also like the rest of the room very tired in appearance. Car park can be a little cramped, and can make...

"We had a wonderful two-night stay at Down Hall and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We were there as a family to celebrate a very special occasion, our family engagement party, and everything was just perfect. The hotel itself was beautiful, our room was lovely and comfortable, and the staff were absolutely fantastic. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly and helpful, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble, and we really appreciated how well...

"Die Unterkunft war sehr gut, weil einfach und das ist meine bevorzugte Art. Die Angestellten waren sehr nett und hilfsbereit, wie es die Briten halt sind."

"The room was in poor condition. Cracked tiles, no bin, no toilet brush, stained napkins and I found multiple hairs around the room. Not worth the money that I paid and won't be staying again."

"The breakfast is amazing. The room is cozy and the bed is comfortable. The host which is the owner are very kind and helpful. I will definitely come back again. Highly recommended."

"Such a cute lodge to stay at. Very clean room, and the attendant was super helpful in getting me to my room and recommendations on how to get to the airport! Would love to stay here again."

"Good facilities and very friendly host but not as clean as it could be inside with dirty soap tray in shower and cobwebs and bugs in bathroom. Front door area was a bit cluttered and common entrance had some odour from being a utility room. "

"The property is quaint/unusual. Not easily seen from the road if arriving in the dark. Provisions given in the room and the landing were excellent and fabulous location for Stansted airport. However, on opening the front door noted that the hall carpet was slightly worn and the room allocated had a shower in the room rather than the bathroom. Otherwise very comfortable stay and would book again, but request a room with a definite bathroom."

"Family room booked for three adults. Arrived to find two single beds. Booking confirmation states someone would be there to greet us. No-one was around. Fortunately we got through to somebody by phone and were able to get into the room but they were not able to provide us anywhere to stay for the three adults we had booked and paid for. The floor, bedding and toilet were clean. However, the windows were covered in cobwebs, the chairs were stained, there were not enough cups for all three of us,...

"sehr gute Lage, wenn man früh zum Flughafen muss, super Frühstück"

"It has to be said that the house and grounds are superb and Met my desire to have my friend wake up on her 80th birthday in palatial surroundings. However I have just been informed at the end of breakfast that it is not included in my Expedia booking! There is no warning of that whatsoever and I think that it is deceitful and deceptive. "

"Nice lobby area in the hotel, but the room was very tired, this was a common theme among our guests. The carpets were also very worn/looked dirty. Staff were nice"
