Pros - Shuttle to and from the V&A Waterfront - Location is in the heart of the city - Friendly Staff - Nice Views - Comfortable beds Cons - Cleanliness of the room was sub par for a 4 star hotel. (Oily hand marks on walls and furniture, moldy shower mat, residue and dirt stains on tub and sink areas, dirty vents.) - Limited options for food and quality of food is sub par. Better to eat at a restaurant by the V&A. - Charged CAD130 to have checkout 3 hours later. Was also given 2 different amounts and it was a note left on file, not a hotel charge. - No shuttle service to the airport. Overall, it’s an alright place to sleep at night, but would not consider this to be a 4 star hotel, 2 and a half at best. Would not stay at it again though.

We stayed 1 night stay at the hotel. It was clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. The only downside was there was insufficient parking and we had to leave the car somewhere else.

Pleasant, but a bit outdated

Great location, I had everything that I needed. The staff were friendly and helpful. It would be better if the Southern Sun did a major re-vamp to the rooms as the fittings are a bit outdated. But overall, a pleasant stay was had.

The property is about 20 mins from CPT. It's downtown so it's walkable although not recommended for women to walk alone at night. It was about 10 minutes from Waterfront. The hotel is excellent 5 stars. The free breakfast is very hearty -- hard to believe it's free! The staff was wonderful and I loved the ambiance!

I stayed in a suite facing Table mountain. That view was spectacular. The suite was spacious, clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable and amenities worked well. Great breakfast selection. The only downside— wifi on the higher floors was not consistent -/ tough for business travelers . If that was better 5 stars. It really is in a convenient spot in the heart of Capetown. You can walk anywhere

Good accommodation option, few areas to improve

Conveniently located at walking distance to the convention center, great view of the Table Mountain from my room (high floor). 6 lifts never let you wait more than a minute or so. There are areas that my experience could have been better, such as a faster check-in (took a while), fixing my air conditioner (not cooling properly), an office chair (the wooden chair was loosen and very non-ergometric, uncomfortable), more toiletry amenities (shaving kit, toothbrush, etc). The check-out gentlemen wasn't on a great customer-service mood.

Good central hotel

Was there in business but stayed an additional 2 days. I liked the hotel, central and easy to get around, the beds was very comfortable and the breakfast good. However there were a couple of things - f ex the coffee making facility in the room only had decaf. I asked for regular coffee and got that the first day. The remaining days I asked several times for regular coffee but did not get any. Also there was a leakage in the bath room that I reported (not a major thing but anyway) and that was not taken care of either. When checking out I asked them to refund the amount that I did not use (they reseverd an amount from my credit card) and there was difficultis. Upon check out the guy at the desk could not refund and I asked if they could solve it while I was away (on a tour). Back from the tour still not fixed and I was told that the machine was brooken so they could not refund. I asked for cash but that was not possible. At that time I was a bit irritated especially when they asked me to fill in a form when I got back and then they could refund... When I said I was not interested in have to do administrative work to get my money the woman at the desk got snappy at me but finally I received my money. That's not professional! Otherwise most of the staff was friendly.

Parking was a problem we park onthe other side of the rowd in a parking very daek and dangerous Breakfast was not as usual for us runners that go out early on race day the was nothing to eat

The state of the hotel

This was our second stay in 10 years. The stay was very dissappinting, I had to park my car outside the hotel risking being mugged by thugs who roamed around. The hotels rooms had water leaks in the bathroom and some doors difficult to open. Please separate shower from bathtub. The name was rude and wanted to close whilst patrons we're having drinks. I had to call the supervisor.
