We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight an enjoyable experience. Follow our insider tips and you'll be speeding through airport security and discovering Antigua Guatemala in no time flat. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a great experience if you pack the right stuff. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a clean pair of socks and a magazine or two. Next, make room in your hand luggage for your phone and charger, any vital medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, remember to bring your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items differs between airlines, the general rule to follow is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, blades, aerosol cans and flares. Sporting equipment like baseball bats, and items that could harm passengers, such as firearms and ammunition, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main aim is to be as comfortable as possible. Go for slip-on footwear, dress in loose, natural fibers and don't forget to bring a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
